Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines: Potential Links between the Endocannabinoid System and the Kynurenine Pathway in Depression

چکیده

Substance use/abuse is one of the main causes depressive symptoms. Cannabis and synthetic cannabinoids in particular gained significant popularity past years. There an increasing amount clinical data associating such compounds with inflammatory component depression, indicated by up-regulation pro-inflammatory cytokines. Pro-inflammatory cytokines are also well-known to regulate enzymes kynurenine pathway (KP), which responsible for metabolizing tryptophan, a precursor serotonin synthesis. Enhanced cytokine levels may over-activate KP, leading tryptophan depletion reduced levels, can subsequently precipitate Therefore, mechanism might represent possible link between endocannabinoid system (ECS) KP via dysregulated serotonergic disorder. This review will summarize regarding those natural that increase Furthermore, on associated activation be further reviewed accordingly. The interaction ECS has been postulated demonstrated some studies previously. contribute this yet less explored connection propose missing cannabinoid-induced inflammation

Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines in Omani Type 2 Diabetic Patients Presenting Anxiety and Depression

Background: The relationship of inflammatory cytokines with anxiety and depression has been reported, but their role in diabetic patients has not been fully elucidated. Objective: We examined whether an association between prevalence of anxiety and depression in Omani type-2 diabetic patients (n=30) and the levels of inflammatory markers such as IL-1β, TNF-α, IFN-γ and C-reactive protein (CRP) ...

Up to 90% of complete suicides are based on psychiatric disorders specifically major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar disorder. Furthermore high levels of inflammation have been indicated in suicidal patients in both central nervous system and the peripheral blood. Two biological mechanisms that play a key role i...

Pro-inflammatory cytokines and depression in a familial cancer registry.

Patients undergoing cancer treatment (e.g., interferon or IL-2 treatment) develop depression, and there is a positive relationship between their depression and circulating levels of proinflammatory cytokines. Depressed patients who are medically healthy also show increases in circulating markers of inflammation. The present study characterized baseline levels of inflammatory cytokine activity i...
